Officials with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office discovered a Riverview man dead of an apparent overdose on Tuesday.
Thomas David Bridges, 39, was found at his home on Travis Road lying on the ground behind his truck. Officials reported that a family member was the first to discover the body.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they allegedly found a pill bottle filled with several prescription drugs in Bridges' pocket. Authorities would not release any details regarding the prescriptions.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Tim Hawsey, family members said that they had been looking for Bridges throughout the night prior to the discovery of the body. They also reported to deputies that Bridges had heart problems and was taking several medications at the time of the death.
Hawsey said the initial investigation has yielded no evidence of foul play. Bridges' body has been sent to the Alabama Department Public Safety's forensics lab in Mobile for an autopsy.
This adds to a list of deaths currently under investigation from the Brewton area. With this latest death, the sheriff's office has four investigations pending in forensics and the Brewton Police Department has two, the latest sent to Mobile about two weeks ago.
