Mr. Charles Brown, 64, died Monday, May 12, 2003 in a local hospital. He was a native of Century, Fla., a former resident of Pensacola and a resident of Atmore for the past seven years. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of service. He was retired from his floor covering business and was a member of Atmore Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Brown of Atmore; two sons, Chuck Brown of Molino, Fla. and Joe Brown of Pensacola; a daughter, Darlene Devine of Cantonment, Fla.; two step-daughters, Vicki Shanks of Atmore and Jennifer Fay of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 10 a.m. at Atmore Baptist Temple with Rev. Doug Odom officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Leroy Findley, Jimmy Moye, Robbie Moye, Joe Chandler, David Pipkin and Dempsey Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow coon hunters, Willie Thrift, Pete Johnson, Aubrey Johnson, Peanut Shaw, Otto Ard, Martin Stokes, Eddie Lee Lambert, Melvin Lambert, Randy Chance, Austin Lee and Tyler Moser.
