The Eagles of W.S. Neal will take to the road this Friday night as they begin regular season play. The season opener will be held in Evergreen at Hillcrest High School.
Coach Shane Smothers hopes the few bumps and bruises of players from last week's Kick-Off Classic won't be a problem for this competition.
Smothers said that the team has worked hard and even with the limitations, they are ready to play.
In reviewing the team's performance during last weeks win over Andalusia, Smothers said the team players worked hard for the win.
According to Smothers the Hillcrest team is good and this may be the year that the Jaguars can take the Eagles down.
There will be some young blood on the field ready to take on the challenge of the Jaguars according to Smothers.
Another young starter this week will be Jarred Cooper, Smothers said.
Roc Herbert will be starting again this week making him a player to watch this season.
Smothers said the team pursued well in defensive areas but had a few breakdowns in the offensive line.
The team will be working hard to overcome the problems faced last week to come out winners Friday night in Evergreen.
Kick-off time for the W.S. Neal vs. Hillcrest game is 7:30 p.m.
