Mr. Charlie Watkins, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003 in a local hospital. He was a native of Jay, Fla. and a resident of Flomaton for many years. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church in Flomaton and served on the Deacon and Trustee Board. He was a maintenance worker for the post office.
He is survived by his wife, Eartha Ree Watkins of Flomaton; a daughter, Catherine Melissa Jones of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Zeter Riley of Atmore; two brothers, Cary Watkins Jr. of Century, Fla. and George A.C. Watkins of Bay Minette and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. at Damascus Baptist Church with Minister Henry Hawkins officiating. Burial followed at Jordan-Pleasant Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
