LaTeshia Lewis and Symone Jackson were joined together in matrimony Oct. 16, 2004, at 4 p.m. at Gaines Chapel AME Church in Atmore with the Rev. A.T. Days and the Rev. Monroe Tucker officiating.
The wedding colors were baby blue, silver and black. The wedding party consisted of a total of 31 people. The maid of honor was Fenetrias Lewis, sister of the bride. She wore a satin, dark platinum dress with a shawl and a purse. The bridesmaids were Shemika Barnes, friend of the bride; Contina Hudson, aunt of the bride; Nykeya Jackson, sister of the groom; Kimberly Johnson, friend of the bride; Katrice Tucker, sister of the bride; and Katrina Williams, friend and co-worker of the bride.
Megan Stallworth and Ashley Riley, cousins of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids. The bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids wore baby blue chiffon dresses with a shawl and a purse.
The best men were Steven Lane, friend of the groom, and Johnny Jackson Jr., brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Ronald America, Larry Bailey and Barry Etheridge, friends and co-workers of the bride and groom; Jeremy Clark and Cordaryl Lewis, brothers of the bride, and Willie Harris, friend of the bride and groom. The junior groomsmen were Brian Johnson, cousin of the bride, and Henri Tucker Jr., brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Da'Mon Lewis, nephew of the bride and son of the maid of honor. The best men, groomsmen, junior groomsmen and ring bearer wore ECKO Unlimited Tuxedos.
The flower girls were Imani and Dominique Jackson, daughters of the groom; Tiffany McReynolds and Moeshia Salter, cousins of the bride; and Alexis Roberts, god-daughter of the bride. Three flower girls wore baby blue dresses and two wore white. The ushers were Brian Johnson and Derrick Johnson, cousins of the bride.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, Henry Tucker Sr. Half way down the aisle, she was handed over to her stepfather, Jimmy Brown, who escorted her to the altar, where Symone and LaTeshia exchanged vows. He gave her a one half karat gold and platinum diamond ring and she gave him a gold and platinum diamond band.
There was a reception held at The Wisteria in downtown Atmore immediately following the ceremony. The couple honeymooned at Stone Mountain, Ga., spending three days and two nights.
LaTeshia is the daughter of Jimmy and Hattie Brown and Henry and Phyllis Tucker Sr. and the granddaughter of Dorothy Hudson, all of Atmore. Symone is the son of Johnny and Tiajuana Jackson, Jr., of Brewton, and the grandson of Celia Bert, of Detroit, Mich. Hattie Brown and Tiajuana Jackson both wore matching baby blue and silver two-piece dresses with a purse. Phyllis Tucker wore a dark platinum pants suit and Dorothy Hudson wore a dark platinum two-piece dress suit. Jimmy Brown, Henry Tucker and Johnny Jackson jr. all wore black ECKO Unlimited tuxedos with tails.
Jean Archie catered the reception. She also decorated the bride's three-tier vanilla cake and the groom's three-tier chocolate cake with strawberries. Gwen Brown decorated Gaines Chapel AME Church. Shon Sanders decorated The Wisteria, made all the flowers and printed the invitations and programs. Bonnie Mason did the bride's make-up and Pam at Phase II in Mobile did the bride's hair. Louie Turner provided a white limousine and Elaine Curtis provided a white Hummer II. Nails-R-Us did the bride's hands and feet and Harold Mason videotaped the ceremony. The dresses came from Jasmine in Atmore. The tuxedos came from Jennie's Boutique in Brewton and the shoes came from Shoe Show in Pensacola. Songs were sung by James Brown, Jackie Nettles, Lavern Pierce and Mack Washington. The music at the reception was by Big Baby Production, of Brewton.
The bride and groom are both employed with the Alabama Department of Corrections. They will reside in Brewton.
