EB councilman dies Tuesday

Huey Johnson, who was serving a fourth term on the East Brewton City Council, died Tuesday morning. He was 63.
Johnson was first elected to the council in 1992. He was re-elected in 1996, 2000, and again last August.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; three children, Billy Johnson, Charlotte Elliott, and Lisa McGraw; and seven grandchildren.
A native of Damascus, Ala., Johnson had lived in East Brewton for the past 30 years. He was a retired truck driver.
Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which were not complete at press time.
The East Brewton mayor and council will appoint a new council member in his place.
