With the settlement of the prolonged strike, it seemed like old times around the local L&N station yesterday. Operation of freight trains was scheduled to begin today and passenger service will resume on Monday. Many, including the city's largest shipper, T.R. Miller Mill Co., have suffered considerable inconvenience during the strike.
Betty Joyce Harris is valedictorian and Sue Murphy is salutatorian of the 1955 graduating class of W.S. Neal High School.
Brewton Standard editor William E. Brooks, Jr., left Friday for Newport, R.I., where he is engaged for two weeks in special training as a reserve officer of the U.S. Navy.

Smith, the son of Ralph Smith of Brewton, is a platoon sergeant in Company B of the 169th Engineer Construction Battalion. He entered the Army in 1951 and last served in Korea.
