When the safe officially closed at the end of the workday on Monday, 13 people had applied for the position as Brewton's police chief.
The city of Brewton has been advertising the position for several weeks and advertised in four different papers, but for the most part remained local. City Council members got an official look at the 13 applicants during a work session held prior to the regular council meeting Tuesday evening.
While four of the applicants were local, a few came from as far away as Washington, D.C. Listed are the applicants and a brief background.
