1165th represented community well in wartime Iraq

Congratulations to the 1165th Military Police unit of the Alabama National Guard, which has collected yet another honor for its service in Iraq.
The unit has been notified that it is the recipient of the Valorous United Award, presented for the time it served under the 18th Military Police Brigade. This award is presented for “extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy of the United States while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force.”
The unit also is the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation, presented for its service under the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 1st Armored Division. This award is presented for “ extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy.” Criteria also includes the display of gallantry, determination and esprit de corps.
The awards, which will be formally presented to the 1165th MP unit at a later date, are further evidence that the unit served well in its wartime efforts in Iraq.
