For the first time in several years, T.R. Miller will not be hosting a track sectional in the upcoming season.
That event for this part of the state's Class 3A teams will he held at St. Paul's High School April 27.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will be joined in the sectional field by Alabama Christian, Calhoun, Montgomery Catholic, Dadeville, Holtville, Lafayette, LAMP, Montgomery Academy, Pike County and Sumter County.
The state meet will be held May 4-5 in Birmingham.
In girls tennis, the Class 1A-3A Sectional Tournament will be held April 24 at Dothan.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will be joined by Bayside Academy, Houston Academy and Providence Christian.
The boys tennis sectional tournament field, which will be held April 27 at Point Clear, has a bit of a different look. Houston Academy and Providence Christian are out and Spanish Fort is in to go along with T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal and Bayside Academy.
In golf, the Class 3A Section 1 Meet will be held at Lagoon Park in Montgomery May 4.
T.R. Miller will be joined by Montgomery Academy, Montgomery Catholic, Holtville, Indian Springs, Slocomb and West Blocton.
W.S. Neal is also slated to be in this Section meet if it fields a team. W.S. Neal did not have a team last year. The school sent individual entries into the postseason in 2004.
The state golf meet will be held May 15-16 at the Magnolia Grover Course in Mobile.
The state baseball playoffs will get underway April 25. The second round series will be held April 28-29, the quarterfinals will be May 5-6, the semifinals will be May 12-13 and the state championship round will be May 17-20.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will compete in Area 1 along Clarke County and Straughn. The top two teams qualify for the playoffs.
The location of the Class 3A Area 1 softball tournament has not been announced although T.R. Miller has been designated the coordinator for the event, which is a good sign the tournament will be held at the Brewton Area YMCA Park May 5.
The top two teams will advance to sub-regional play May 9. The second sub-regional round will be May 13. The state tournament will be at Montgomery.
