For those who think high school softball players are wearing converted football helmets this spring, they're close.
The Alabama High School Athletic Association is now requiring all players to wear a helmet with protective face gear.
White said the face gear has been a growing trend in softball at lower levels.
T.R. Miller senior Haley Rilling said adjustment to wearing the face gear helmets has been minimal.
White admits he is a bit puzzled why softball has gone to face gear and baseball has not.
On the same day T.R. Miller baseball coach Jim Hart picked up his 200th career victory, W.S. Neal coach Coy Campbell also picked up a personal milestone with his 100th career win.
The 100th win came Friday when the Blue Eagles swept a doubleheader against Red Level.
This is Campbell's eighth season of coaching. He spent three years at Northview (Fla.) High School before moving to W.S. Neal.
