The Escambia County Democratic Executive Committee will meet Thursday, June 29, at 6 p. m. in the Courtroom of the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
Democratic nominee for Attorney General John Tyson, Jr. will be the guest of honor and speaker. All Democratic candidates, office holders and the general public are invited to attend, meet and visit with Tyson.
Tyson grew up in Mobile and represented the first congressional district, which includes Escambia County, on the Alabama State Board of Education for 14 years from 1980-94.
In 1994 he was appointed to serve as District attorney of Mobile County, a position to which he has been twice re-elected.
As district attorney of one of Alabama's largest judicial circuits he has been responsible for over 22,000 felony convictions. John was elected as the Democratic nominee for the office of attorney general in the recent June 6 primary election.
He now faces incumbent republican attorney general Troy King in the Nov. 7 general election.
The public is invited to attend and there is no charge or cost associated with this event.
