Mr. James Edward Jeffers, 85, of Wing, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, in a Pensacola, Fla., after injuries sustained in a farming accident. He was a native and long time resident of Wing and was a retired welder with the ship building industry. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church in Baker, Fla., and was a U.S. Army veteran with the 127th Cavalry.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Douglas Jeffers of Wing; one sister, Ruby Taylor of Saraland; one nephew, Glenn (Jan) Taylor of Atmore; and three nieces, Mary (Dennis) Parker of Dixie, Evonne (Wendall) Beason of Saraland and Kathy (Bobby) Raines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hutcheson officiating. Burial followed at the Bradley Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
