Hammers take on Harlem

The roster may not line up like an NBA team, but the Habitat Hammers are ready for a little round-ball action.
The Brewton Hammers are gearing up for a showdown against the Harlem Ambassadors on Saturday, Jan. 20. The tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the T.R. Miller High School gymnasium.
Tom Gerdy, who will serve as coach for the Habitat Hammers, is expecting the evening to be exciting and entertaining.
The roster for the Hammers indicates there is a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming event.
Team members who have made a commitment for the event are Alan Baker, sponsored by Habitat for Humanity; Will Ruzic, sponsored by First United Methodist Church; Dan McMillan, sponsored by McMillan Trust; Mendez Parker, sponsored by Smurfit-Stone; McGowin Miller, sponsored by Oasis; Philip Jennings and David Jennings, sponsored by BankTrust of Brewton; Jack Hines, sponsored by Hines Realty; Timothy Woods, sponsored by WalMart; Edward Hines, sponsored by Double M. Gerdy, who was instrumental in bringing a group of volunteers to the Brewton area last year, said it is a pleasure to make a return to Brewton for this event. During the groups work, two Habitat homes were built in four days.
Advance tickets are available for purchase at BankTrust of Brewton, Bank of Brewton, Book and Bean, Brewton First United Methodist Church office, Pic-N-Sav, Magnolia Super Foods, WalMart, and the Greater Brewton Habitat for Humanity office.
Advance ticket prices are $5 for senior adults and students and $7 for adults. Tickets on the day of the show are $6 for senior adults and students and $8 for adults.
Children 4 years old and younger will be admitted free.
