Mr. Roy Alan Godwin, 57, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at his residence. He was a cable technician and retired after 33 years with Bell South Telephone Company. He served in the U.S. Army, was an active member and deacon of the Little Escambia Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Myrtle Godwin.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Ann Whitehurst Godwin; a son, Jason Alan (Tara) Godwin of Mobile; a daughter, Dana Ann (Terry) Strength of Atmore; a brother, Gary (Stacey) Godwin of Logan, Utah; his mother-in-law, Anna Whitehurst of Atmore; three sisters, Fran (David) Wiggins of Mobile, Ann (Jerry) Shenk of Atmore, and Carol (Travis) Glidden of Brewton; two grandchildren, Chandler Strength and Chase Godwin.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Douglas Hogg officiating. Burial followed at Sardis Baptist Cemetery with Atmore Memorial directing. Pallbearers were the deacons of Little Escambia Church and the honorary pallbearers were the Bill Spears Sunday School Class.
