Mrs. Dot Pugh Williams, 85, of North Pine Street, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native and former resident of Opp, before moving to Brewton in 1948. She owned and operated the Brewton Flower Shop for 37 years and was one of the founders and owners of Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with her late husband, Pete Williams. She was a member of the Alco Baptist Church and a member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Pete Williams and a son, Larry Gene Williams.
She is survived by her son, Mike Williams and friend, Mary Yoder of Brewton; a brother, Oscar Pugh and friend, Stella Henderson of Opp; two grandchildren, Kim (Jason) Madden and Michael (Heather) Williams, both of Brewton; two great-granddaughters; and three sisters-in-law, Doll Williams Bozeman of Opp, Nez Williams Owens of Dade City, Fla., and Flora Williams Moore of Tennessee.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Caylor, Brother Monroe Sasser and Brother Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
