Alabama's Junior Miss, Inc. , has announced the date and location for the 2008 At-Large Program.
The event will be held Aug. 11, 2007, on the campus of Birmingham Southern College. Those who are interested should check the website www.ajm.org to determine if they must participate in a local or in the At-Large ceremony. There is no entry fee to enter the program.
It is an “all-day” event, with participants in all five judging categories. The event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and conclude around 4 p.m. Exact finish time will be determined by the number of participants. The event is “closed” to the public.
The contestants will learn and perform two choreographed numbers, one each for “Self-Expression” and “Fitness” judging categories. They should also be prepared to present a 90 second “talent” piece and will have a 10-minute “interview' by a panel of judges. The fifth category is “Scholastics” - the participant will submit her academic record to a qualified panel of scholastic evaluators to review.
Birmingham Southern College provides a safe and secure location and has graciously served as the host of Alabama's At-Large Program for over a decade. The participants will remain on campus for the entire event, and Alabama's Junior Miss will provide their lunch, drinks and snacks for the day.
The Junior Miss Program is the oldest and largest scholarship program of its type in the nation, celebrating 50 years of providing college-bound high school seniors with scholarship opportunities. To learn more about the Junior Miss experience visit www.ajm.org.
