Single-elimination or double-elimination. Required to play or not required to play. Everybody gets in or earn a berth.
While T.R. Miller Lady Tigers softball coach Greg White and W.S. Neal skipper Scott Robinson do not agree on all parts of the Alabama High School Athletic Association's postseason structure for their sport, the one thing they do agree is there probably needs to be some changes made to the system.
White prefers the double-elimination format the current softball area tournament uses.
Robinson prefers a single-elimination format.
Both White and Robinson feel teams within the same area should play each other during the regular season even though both programs have not always done so in the past.
White said softball should be like other sports where teams within a region or area have to play each other during the regular season.
Robinson would like to see softball teams earn a postseason berth rather than the current format where everybody plays.
we're more or less just playing games during the regular season right now.”
White prefers a bracket format rather than the current area yournament setup.
Perhaps the biggest thing White, who serves as an assistant coach with the T.R. Miller volleyball team, wants is for the state to pick a format and stick with it.
