Southern Family Markets recently announced the promotion of local Brewton resident Peggy Booker to store manager at the Brewton location.
Booker is a 1983 graduate of Glenmore High School in Glenmore, La., and has made her home in Brewton for the past 24 years. She and her husband, Jeff, have 23-year-old twins, Brandy Booker Barrentine and Randy Booker. The couple also owns a plant nursery in Brewton. She is active in the community and is children's church director at Appleton Assembly of God church.
Booker began her career at the Brewton location in 1990 when the store was doing business under the name of Food Fair. She was hired as a dairy and frozen foods manager and was responsible for ordering, stocking and checking dates on items in the dairy department. She was promoted to scan coordinator and receiver at the store. Her hard work, attention to detail, dedication and knowledge of store operations has caused her to be able to be elevated to the position of store manager.
Southern Family Markets is located on Douglas Avenue in the Douglas Square shopping center. The company, based in Birmingham, currently operates 42 markets in Alabama, Georgia and eastern Mississippi.
