Brewton resident Alan Baker has spent a lot of time in Montgomery since being elected as the District 66 State Representative in August 2006. With the close of the legislative session on Thursday, Baker will now have more time to spend among the constituents in the district that covers portions of Escambia and Baldwin Counties.
Baker said although the job is classified as part-time by the State government, it is more of a full-time job than one might expect.
Baker said he spends time outside of Montgomery making himself available to the people he serves.
Baker said he has enjoyed learning the legislative process while serving in his first term of office.
Baker said the political office lives up to his expectations of the job, but has also become more than he expected in rewards.
Baker has spent his time working on two committees while in Montgomery. He is a member of the education policy and public safety committees. He has also served on an interim committee during his first months in office.
