Mr. Christopher Columbus Jackson Jr., 83, of Old U.S. 31, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. He was the former owner and operator of Jackson Mobile Home Sales. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 28 years of service. He retired as command senior chief at Corey Field, Pensacola. He was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Bolton, Bessie Kent and Bertha Brooks; and one grandson, Carl Allen Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Clara White Jackson of Brewton; three sons, Chris (Jan) Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Charles (Cindy) Jackson and Carl (Elaine) Jackson, both of Brewton; a daughter, Clara Ann (John) Talton of Atlantic Beach, N.C.; a brother, Dr. Joseph Jackson of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at Catawba Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Sumrall and the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
