Construction on a new Walgreens drug store could begin within the next month, city officials said.
The Walgreens will be located at the corner of Douglas Avenue and Douglas Lane.
Yuhasz said Walgreens developers were waiting on developments with Wal-Mart, which will build a new Wal-Mart Supercenter just north of the Walgreens on U.S. 31.
Walgreens, like the Supercenter, is expected to bring more sales tax revenue to Brewton.
The same developers are currently working on a new Walgreens in Atmore. Construction on that project is wrapping up and the store is expected to open Friday.
Walgreens announced plans in April 2006 to build a 15,000 square foot store in Brewton.
