Gulf Coast Cancer Centers will hold a free skin cancer screening for the public at its Brewton office, located at 1207 Azalea Place, July 31 from noon to 2 p.m.
Gulf Coast Cancer Centers' physician Dr. William C. Hixson will be on hand to answer any questions regarding skin cancer.
“Early detection screenings and examinations can help save lives and reduce suffering from common cancers like skin cancer,” Hixson said. “Because it is important to find these cancers early, we encourage these examinations by offering them to the public throughout the year.”
According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common of all cancers and accounts for half of all cancers in the United States. It is estimated that more than 1 million people will be diagnosed with skin cancer in 2007.
