Huntsville police said they are baffled by what led to the stabbing death of a Brewton native Tuesday.
Anthony Lamonte Moore, 32, of Huntsville, a 1995 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, died as a result of a puncture wound to the chest, said Wendell Johnson, spokesman for the Huntsville Police Department.
Johnson said members of the Huntsville Fire and Rescue Squad treated Moore at the scene, then took him to Huntsville Hospital.
Johnson said Sgt. Ed Cain with the Hunstville Police Department was in charge of the on-going investigation, but no determination has been made concerning the events leading up to Moore's wounds.
Johnson said police have said the girlfriend is not a suspect at this time.
Johnson said the incident took place at 1505 Sparkman Drive in Apartment 127 of Coventry Apartments in Hunstville.
Moore was a 1995 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, where he played football and track team.
Baker said Moore was a member of the football team for three years and was also a member of the track team at the school for three years.
Johnson said information about the incident remains limited at this time and an investigation is continuing.
