A Brewton man was charged Wednesday with trafficking cocaine after law enforcement officials searched his house and found drugs and cash, drug task force officials said last week.
Agents with the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force and the Brewton Police Department’s special response team executed a search warrant at 561 Lewis Lane in Brewton.
During the search, agents recovered more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and about $500 in cash, said Keith Hutchins of the drug task force. Agents also seized a 1987 Silverado Chevrolet pickup and a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Agents arrested Kerry Lamar Hendieth, also known as “Shaky,” of 561 Lewis Lane, and charged him with trafficking cocaine. He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff’s Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney’s Office, Poarch Police Department and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 50 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the United States Department of Justice and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs. The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department, Atmore Police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney’s Office.
