It is Andalusia that provided the roadblock between the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers volleyball team and last year's Class 4A Area 2 Tournament championship and it is the Lady Bulldogs who are apparently the same roadblock this season.
Andalusia turned the Lady Tigers away again Tuesday when it notched a 25-14, 25-12, 25-20 decision at T.R. Miller.
That was not the only loss T.R. Miller suffered. Midway through the second set senior middle hitter Brittany Watson went down with a knee injury and did not return.
Andalusia went on a decisive 19-6 run in the opening set after the squads battled to an early 4-4 deadlock.
Only five of T.R. Miller's 14 points came from its offense. Watson had three defensive kills for points.
Andalusia had only a 14-11 lead in set two when Watson, who added three more kills to her total to go along with a couple of service points, went down.
The Lady Tigers managed just two defensive points the rest of the way, as Andalusia ended the set on an 11-2 run.
T.R. Miller got off to a 5-2 lead in the finale thanks to a trio of points by Morgan Hubbard and one by Rachel Bostic to go along with a defensive point.
While the Lady Tigers were unable to hang on to that lead, they were still even with the Lady Bulldogs when a service point by Bostic tied the set at 14-13. A four-point service string by Andalusia on the ensuing rotation put the visitors up for good.
