A project more than a year in the making, the Kids for Christ Bible Study group is ready to welcome children into a world of fun, entertainment and Bible study.
The dream began when Judy Taylor, coordinator for the East Brewton First United Methodist Church's Children Church, had the idea to open Bible study to more than just the children who attend the local church.
Kids for Christ is held on the third Saturday each month from 3 to 5 p.m. and is open to children ages 4 to 14.
Classes are held in the building, which formerly housed the church. A newer facility now houses an up-to-date sanctuary as well as Sunday school rooms, offices and other areas.
Armed with paints, fabrics and plenty of ideas, Taylor tackled the decorating duties with help from several members of the East Brewton congregation.
Each room features a scene from a particular Bible story, Taylor said. Color and fabric details in the room bring elements of the stories to life during sessions.
The sanctuary is decorated to reflect images from stories used in lessons. Areas are decorated in themes from Noah's Ark to the birth of Christ in Bethlehem.
Parents can drop their children off and feel comfortable they will be taken care of and be exposed to Christian ideals and beliefs, Taylor said.
At the end of each Saturday session, children are treated to a pizza supper to finish out their Kids for Christ experience.
