The annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
Local businesses and civic organizations interested in competing for prize money should consider constructing a float for display in the parade.
The main event for the parade will be the traditional arrival of Santa Clause.
Ending the parade will be Santa riding into town on a fire truck with plenty of candy for those along the parade route.
Also featured in the parade will be Mrs. Claus. She will be riding in the parade with candy throws for those who attend the parade.
According to officials with the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, Santa will be taking a rest stop following the parade.
Santa will take a break under the gazebo in the Brewton City Park in downtown Brewton.
Children and adults will have an opportunity to make a brief visit with Santa to discuss holiday wishes and receive a special surprise.
The 2007 Christmas parade will follow the same route as in the past few years.
The parade will line up in East Brewton on Shoffner Street. It will travel down Forrest Avenue, over the bridge on Mildred Street, to the main intersection at the railroad tracks. It will turn onto St. Joseph Street to Belleville Avenue and will disband on side streets of McLellan, Rankin and Granberry.
