Two Brewton women are working together to bring holiday cheer to area residents in need.
Valerie Long and Lisa Thomas will be passing out donated items for children through Saturday at Longevity on Douglas Avenue.
Thomas, who operates a year-round food bank through Carlisa Inc. wanted to do more than pass along food for those in need during the holiday season.
Donated items to be distributed this week include a variety of tights for little girls and socks for boys as well as school supply items. Items were donated by The Children's Place in Destin, Fla., and Office Depot in Foley, Thomas said.
Thomas said anyone with a need is welcome to stop by Longevity to receive items available.
Although a referral is not necessary to receive the items, bringing recipients to the site will be required, Thomas said.
The choice of having the distribution set up at Longevity was a logical one, Long said.
Along with the donated items to be distributed, those families who receive the gifts will have an opportunity to receive a ready-to-cook Christmas dinner, Long said.
The basket contains a ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans, rice, rolls, a cake mix and brownie mix, Long said.
Carlisa Inc. receives donations throughout the year, with food bank distribution conducted each week, Thomas said.
Anyone with questions concerning the holiday distribution of items or the Carlisa Inc., food bank may call Thomas at 867-2870. Donations may also be made by contacting Thomas.
