It sure was fun while it lasted. As the third out of the game was recorded against the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team in the bottom of the seventh against Thomasville Saturday afternoon, high school baseball in the area came to a close.
The Eagles, the only team in the county to make the high school playoffs, walked across the infield with their heads held high to shake their opposing team members hands.
These guys, even though it probably didn't feel like it did at that moment and still may not this morning, accomplished a lot.
As I mentioned last week, I never would have thought that this team would have done what it did this year and even make the playoffs.
A fifteen win season, an area championship, and making it to the playoffs is what this team did this season.
I want to say congratulations to you guys on the teams and congrats to coaches Campbell and Grace.
You guys made it such a fun season for me and made my first season of covering high school baseball a great one.
You are truly one of my favorite teams and I will remember you all.
Thanks!
Coach Campbell, thanks for helping me this season and it has been a pleasure to work with you.
To seniors, Jake Hunsinger, Jake Hodge, Jake Dixon, Wesley Booker, Aaron Nelson, Tyler Nall, Tyler Brown and Michael Boyd, congrats on a great season and I wish you the best in the remainder of your high school career and upcoming college careers.
If I never see ya'll again, which I hope I do, congrats on a great season.
As we close one chapter of high school baseball, I want to say thanks to all the fans and supporters. Without your support, there would be no season at all.
Congrats W.S. Neal High School Eagles.
On a different note, I hope all had a great spring break and I wish all area teams the best of luck in their games this week.
Until Wednesday when we meet again here or on the fields, God bless!
