Mr. Richard James Merritt, 76, died Friday, May 30, 2008, in an Evergreen hospital. He was a native of Castleberry and a resident of Evergreen for the past four years. He was a carpenter by trade. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie Merritt and Roy Merritt.
He is survived by two brothers, Cecil Merritt of Chunchula and Luther Merritt of Jackson, Tenn.; and his companion, Elaine Crawford of Evergreen.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at New Hopewell Cemetery with Marvin Merritt officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing.
