Brewton Babe Ruth Tigers sweep Rays in doubleheader to claim wins

As the 2008 Babe Ruth season is coming to an end, the Tigers are still in first place with an 11-3 record. The Indians were in second place with an 8-8 record followed by the Cardinals with an 8-7 record, the Rockies at 7-8, the Rays at 6-8 and the Royals at 4-11.
Rockies 10, Indians 7
The Rockies scored seven runs in the final two innings of play to claim a 10-7 win over the Rockies.
Devlin Crosby picked up the win on the mound for the Rockies as he went six innings and allowed seven runs (three earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Wes Maddox took the loss on the mound for the Indians. Maddox went five innings allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits and striking out two and walking four.
Offensively for the Rockies, Curtis Glaize, Cody Bradley, Tyler Sawyer and Houston Pace all had hits as Glaize had a double for the Rockies. Pace led with two RBIs followed by Crosby's one and Cam Blackmon's one.
For the Indians, Trevor Diercks led with a 2-for-3 outing followed by Monterius Culliver, Darion Salter, Josh Palmer and Dalton Evan's one hit day.
Evan led the Indians with two RBIs followed by one from Joseph Strength and Salter's one RBI each.
Royals 4, Rays 3
Hayden Cooper pitched the Royals to a 4-3 win over the Rays last week as Trent Robinson knocked in two of the Royals' four runs in the win.
Cooper went four innings and allowed one run on five hits while striking out six and walking one in the win.
Dylan Bell took the loss on the mound for the Rays. Bell went two innings and allowed one run (none earned) on no hits and struck out one.
Offensively for the Royals, Eli Tyree, Robinson, Eric Clayton and Caleb Dickey all had hits in the win with Clayton having a double.
Robinson led with two RBIs followed by one from Dickey.
For the Rays, Wil Riggs, Ryland Dixon, Kameron Wynn and Caleb Stewart all had hits with Wynn going 2-for-2.
Dixon picked up a triple in the loss and Riggs had the lone RBI for the Rays.
Tigers 9, Rockies 3
The Tigers continued on their winning ways with a 9-3 win over the Rockies.
Jacob Fillmore earned the win on the mound for the Tigers as Ryan Hunt earned the save. Fillmore went three innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and striking out two. Hunt went three innings and allowed two hits and struck out two while walking one.
For the Rockies, Keith Bradley took the loss as he went six innings and allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits and struck out six and walked two.
Offensively for the Tigers, Tyler Etheridge was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Hunt and Conner Denton were 2-for-3 along with Caleb McAnally who had a triple and four RBIs to lead the Tigers.
For the Rockies, Bradley, Curtis Glaize and Cody Bradley were all 2-for-4 as Cody Bradley had on RBI.
Devlin Crosby was 1-for-3 with a double.
Indians 9, Tigers 3
The Indians upset the first place Tigers last week with a 9-3 win.
Joseph Strength took the win on the mound for the Indians and Trevor Diercks led at the plate with a 3-for-4 showing with six RBIs and a double and a triple.
Strength went the complete game and allowed three runs (none earned) on five hits and struck out five and walked one.
Conner Denton took the loss on the mound for the Tigers. Denton went 5 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs (two earned) on five hits and had six strikeouts while walking two.
For the Indians offensively, Monterius Culliver and Strength were 1-for-4 followed by Hunter Mullin's 1-for-4. Josh Palmer was 1-for-3 at the plate in the win.
For the Tigers, Louis Miller, Conner Denton, Caleb McAnally, Tyler Etheridge and Michael McGaha all had hits in the loss. McAnally was 1-for-4 with a double and Miller had two RBIs and Etheridge had one RBI.
Cardinals 10, Rays 0
Gary McGraw pitched a complete game shutout for the Cardinals as they defeated the Rays 10-0 in five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
McGraw went the five innings to get the win and allowed five hits and struck out seven and walked one.
Wil Riggs took the loss for the Rays on the mound as he went three innings and allowed six runs (three earned) on three hits and struck out six and walked eight in the loss.
Offensively for the Cardinals, Collin Graves was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs followed by Logan Williamson's 2-for-3 outing and two RBIs.
Christian Lodge was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Josh Tompkins 1-for-3 and Brett Smith's 1-for-1.
For the Rays, Wil Riggs and Ryland Dixon were 2-for-2 and Bryant Jernigan were 1-for-1.
Cardinals 8, Tigers 2
The Cardinals sent the Tigers to their second straight loss as they defeated them 8-2.
Gary McGraw picked up the win on the mound going five innings allowing no runs and allowing six hits and striking out nine and walking two.
Conner Denton took the loss on the mound for the Tigers. Denton allowed four earned runs on five hits and struck out three.
Offensively for the Cardinals, Logan Williamson went 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Cardinals. Brian Settle, McGraw, Hunter Franklin and Tyler Dehoff all had hits in the win as Dehoff was 2-for-3 with a double.
Franklin and McGraw all had two RBIs in the win.
For the Tigers, Ryan Hunt was 3-for-4 and Jacob Fillmore was 2-for-4 in the loss. Conner Denton and Caleb McAnally was 1-for-4 and Tyler Etheridge was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Rays 18, Royals 11
In a high scoring game for both teams that saw 29 combined runs, the Rays defeated the Royals 18-11.
Caleb Stewart took the win for the Rays on the mound as Caleb Dickey took the loss on the mound for the Royals.
Stewart went three innings allowing six runs on six hits and walking one. Dickey allowed seven runs in two innings and allowed nine hits and one walk.
Offensively for the Rays, Wil Riggs and Harrison Horton both had triples in the win with Reid Johnson connecting for a double.
Riggs and Dylan Bell had three RBIs each with Bell going 3-for-4. Riggs had three RBIs along with Bell and Johnson had two RBIs in the win.
For the Royals, Trent Robinson, Bradley Brown and Shawn Odom all had doubles in the loss with Brown and Odom having three RBIs.
Brown was 2-for-3 and Odom was 2-for-2 at the plate.
Tigers 7, Rockies 4
After suffering two losses, the Tigers rebounded with a 7-4 win over the Rockies.
Conner Denton took the win on the mound for the Tigers. Denton went three innings and allowed no runs on no hits and struck out two and walked one.
Tyler Sawyer took the loss on the mound for the Rockies as he went 5 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs (three earned) on 10 hits and struck out four and walked three.
Offensively for the Tigers, Denton went 3-for-4 and had one RBI with Louis Miller going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Ryan Hunt, Caleb McAnally, Jacob Fillmore, Tyler Etheridge and Michael McGaha all had hits in the win.
For the Rockies, Dan Smith, Keith Bradley, Curtis Glaize, Cody Bradley, and Cam Blackmon all had hits in the loss. Bradley had two RBIs and Blackmon had one in the loss.
Royals 10, Cardinals 7
Trent Robinson was 3-for-3 with a triple and a homerun and had two RBIs while also picking up the win on the mound to lead the Royals to a 10-7 win over the Cardinals.
On the mound for the Royals, Robinson went three innings and allowed three runs on three hits and struck out seven and walked four in the win.
Eli Tyree was 2-for-4 with an RBI followed by two RBIs each from Evan Clayton and Caleb Dickey who had a double in the win.
For the Cardinals, Brian Settles took the loss as he went one inning and allowed three runs on two hits and walked one.
Collin Graves was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs in the loss. Settles went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Logan Williamson, Hunter Franklin, Christian Lodge and Brett Smith all had hits in the loss.
Royals 9, Indians 8
In a tight game from start to finish, the Royals edged out the Indians 9-8 Thursday night.
Evan Clayton led the Royals offensively by going 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win. Caleb Dickey and Alec Robinson both had two hits in the game followed by two from Eli Tyree. Hayden Cooper, Trent Robinson and Shawn Odom all had one hit in the game.
On the mound for the Royals, Trent Robinson took the mound in relief going two innings and allowing two runs on one hit and striking out two and walking none. None of the runs were earned.
For the Indians, Hunter Mullins took the loss as he went four innings and allowed four earned runs
Offensively for the Indians, Joseph Strength was 3-for-4 on the day to lead the Indians.
Monterius Culliver, Trevor Diercks, Mullins, Wes Maddox, Dalton Evans, and William Whittle all had a hit in the game. Culliver, Mullins, Maddox, Whittle and Josh Palmer all had RBIs in the loss.
Rockies 11, Cardinals 8
After scoring three runs in the first inning, the Rockies scored eight runs in the second inning to take an 11-8 win over the Cardinals.
For the Rockies, Tyler Sawyer led the team with a 2-for-3 day and one RBI. Dan Smith, Devlin Crosby, Keith Bradley, Cody Bradley, Ed Hines, Cam Blackmon and Hunter Hanks all had hits in the win.
For the Cardinals, Josh Tompkins led with a 2-for-3 performance and one RBI.
Collin Graves, Gary McGraw, Hunter Franklin, and Tyler Dehoff all were 1-for-3 in the loss.
Indians 4, Rays 1
Hunter Mullins pitched a complete game only allowing one run (none earned) on five hits while striking out seven and walking three to lead the Indians to a 4-1 win over the Rays.
Josh Palmer was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Indians and Joseph Strength was 1-for-2 with four RBIs.
William Whittle was 1-for-2 and Monterius Culliver was 1-for-3 in the win for the Indians.
For the Rays, Wil Riggs took the loss on the mound going two innings and allowing one run (none earned) on one hit and walking none and striking out five.
Offensively, Riggs went 2-for-3 at the plate with Reid Johnson going 1-for-2. Dylan Bell was 1-for-1 and Kameron Wynn went 1-for-3.
Brewton Indians 2,
Evergreen Cardinals 1
Wes Maddox picked up the win on the mound for the Indians and William Whittle drove in the game-winning run for the Indians to claim a 2-1 win over Evergreen.
With the game tied 1-1, Whittle drove in Trevor Diercks who reached on an error and then stole second base.
Maddox went 1 2/3 inning and allowed one run on two hits and struck out two.
Offensively for the Indians, Whittle was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Monterius Culliver was 1-for-2.
Indians 8, Rockies 7
Hunter Mullins went 2-for-4 for the Indians and drove in three RBIs as the Indians defeated the Rockies 8-7.
Joseph Strength followed Mullins by going 3-for-3 on the day with a double and on RBI.
Mullins also claimed the win on the mound for the Indians as he went two innings in relief and allowed no runs on one hit and struck out one.
Keith Bradley took the loss for the Rockies on the mound. Bradley went 1 2/3 inning in relief and allowed one run on two hits.
Offensively for the Rockies, Curtis Glaize went 2-for-5 with a double and one RBI. Cam Blackmon went 2-for-4 on the day with one RBI in the loss.
Evergreen Royals 12,
Rockies 11
In a game against the Royals from Evergreen, the Brewton Rockies dropped a one run game by a score of 12-11.
Offensively for the Rockies, Dan Smith was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead the team.
Curtis Glaize, Cody Bradley, and Hunter Hanks all had one hit in the loss as Devlin Crosby, Bradley, Cody Bradley and Brandon Bradley all had RBIs in the game.
Game one: Tigers 5, Rays 1
In game one of a double header Thursday night in East Brewton, the Tigers scored three fourth inning runs after holding a 2-1lead.
For the Tigers, Louis Miller and Caleb McAnally were both 2-for-3 in the game with Miller having one RBI.
Conner Denton also was 2-for-3 in the game for the Tigers. Ryan Hunt and Jacob Fillmore were both 1-for-3.
For the Rays, Kameron Wynn and Jeremy Myers were both 1-for-2 with singles.
Game two: Tigers 8, Rays 7
In game two between the Tigers and the Rays, the Tigers took first place in the league with an 8-7 win.
For the Tigers, Conner Denton was 2-for-3 with a double and a single and Ryan Hunt and Tyler Etheridge were both 1-for-3. Louis Miller was 1-for-4 in the win.
For the Rays, Ryland Dixon was 2-for-3 with a double and Reid Johnson was 2-for-3 in the loss.
Dylan Bell and Bryant Jernigan were both 1-for-3 in the loss.
