Teams begin play Saturday

Beginning on Saturday, East Brewton Little League field will be the site of seven teams competing for the Alabama District 5 Little League championship.
Opp, Covington County, Escambia County Gold (East Brewton and Flomaton), Brewton Evergreen, Andalusia and Escambia County Green (East Brewton/Flomaton) will all be competing in the 9-and-10-year old tournament in East Brewton.
Opp and Covington County will begin play on Saturday at 4 p.m. with the winner advancing to play Escambia County Green on Sunday at 6 p.m. The Escambia County Green team has a bye for round one.
The loser will play at 8 p.m. on Sunday against the Escambia County Gold and Brewton loser.
Escambia County Gold and Brewton will play at 6 p.m. on Saturday with the winner advancing to play Sunday at 4 p.m.
At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Evergreen and Andalusia will play with the winner playing the Escambia County Gold and Brewton winner.
The loser of the game will play the Escambia County Gold and Brewton loser at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The tournament is scheduled to go through Friday July 4 with the championship game being played at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Making the list of all stars for the Brewton 9 &10-year-old team are Cole Blackmon, Hunter Brittain, Brooks Brown, Lane Clark, Jared Cooper, Trippe Floyd, Austin Holmes, Jonathan Lucas, Markail Mitchell, Jake Najor, Will Smith, Ethan Tyree, and Jordan Williams.
For the 9-and-10-year-old Escambia County Green team are Dalton Shell, Malcolm Hawthorne, Lane Chavers, Joseph Booker, Kevin Gumapac, Trevor Reaves, Hayden Hammond, Andrew Cash, Conner White, Hannah Fillmore and Kainoa Gumapac.
Team members for the Escambia County Gold team are Marcus Simmons, Colton Young, Colton Morris, Dakota Graves, Kenny Walker, Austin Brantley, Duane Hamby, Quinn Riley, Derrick Barton, Mason Kent, Garrett Hart, Jack Coppenger, and Tyler Weaver.
All Star play will begin on Tuesday, July 1 in East Brewton for the 10-and-11-year-old teams and play for the 11-and-12-year-old age group will begin on Saturday, July 5 in Brewton.
East Brewton does not have a 10-and-11-year-old team.
