Mr. Winford Dewayne Johnson, 52, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at a Pensacola hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Century, a retired CSX Railroad employee. He was a member of the Century Masonic Lodge 213 and attended the Holiness church. He was preceded in death by his father, Winford Allen Johnson; his grandparents, Roy and Estelle Johnson and Rufus and Katie Campbell; and a niece, Wendy Land Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne C. Johnson of Century; three sons, Shawn Dewayne (Michelle) Johnson of Beulah, Fla., Derek Edward (Stephanie) Johnson of Cantonment, Fla., and Justin Charles (Nicole) Johnson of Century; two daughters, Rachel Elaine Johnson of Pace, Fla., and Samantha Diana Johnson of Century; his mother, Dorothy Johnson of Century; three brothers, Roy Allen (Wanda) Johnson of Century, Ray (Paula) Johnson of Jay, Fla., and Tommy Lee (Angela) Johnson of Brewton; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Tommy Lee Johnson and Brother Michael Mooney officiating. Burial followed at McCurdy Cemetery with Masonic services. Pallbearers were Shawn Johnson, Derek Johnson, Justin Johnson, Dusty Johnson, Nathan Johnson and Chad Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Austin Johnson, Bradley Johnson and Cody Johnson.
