The actual Relay for Life event may still be several months away, but organizers are already making plans for the annual event to raise money for cancer research.
Allison Faircloth, American Cancer Society representative for Escambia and Baldwin counties, said the date for the 2009 Relay event has already been set and plans are being made beginning with a kick-off event Tuesday.
A Relay for Life kick-off celebration is set for 5:30 p,m. Sept. 9 at the Brewton Area YMCA.
Faircloth said the kick-off would allow those interested in Relay to gain important information on teams, activities and plans for the annual event.
During the public kick-off meeting, Faircloth said the theme of Relay will be carried out in a variety of activities.
