The Walter Lewis Scholarship Fund could top $100,000 following the fifth annual golf tournament to raise money for the program Thursday.
The four-man scramble was held at the Country Club of Brewton, and former T.R. Miller and Alabama standout Lewis was on hand for the tournament that bears his name.
Lewis said it was rewarding to see the program benefit local students, who receive partial University of Alabama scholarships from the endowment.
The team of Melvin Davis, David Banks, Dana Sutton and Clifford Watson won the scramble with a score of 52, which included two eagles.
Melvin Davis had the longest drive, and Terrell Rigsby was closest to the line.
The tournament, in its fifth year, is hosted by the Escambia County chapter of the University of Alabama National Alumni Association.
