Mr. Alvin John Binzel Jr., 93, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, in Birmingham. He was a native of Knoxville, Tenn., a former resident of Birmingham and Brewton before moving to Pensacola. He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brewton and a member of the Lions Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha Binzel (Leland) Keller of Birmingham; a son, Alvin John (Carol) Binzel III of San Pedro Sula, Honduras; stepsons, Rodwell (Sally) Salter, Mickey (Rita) Salter both of Pensacola, and Mathew (Sharon) Salter of Hobart, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Martha (William R.) Manly and Libby Kimbro of Kinston; and numerous other relatives, including two nieces, Barbara Monk (Jimmie) Maddox and Jan Monk (Dennis) Dunaway, both ofBrewton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. at South Highland Presbyterian Church. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at Springhill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Flomaton with Faith Chapel of Cantonment directing.
