Friends and family of Tren Powell are planning a benefit motorcycle ride to raise funds to cover medical expenses for the injuries he sustained in a motorcyle wreck this summer.
The event will include a motorcycle ride beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Kenny's Yamaha on U.S. 31 South. Cost will be $25 per bike with passengers riding free. The fee includes lunch and drink for the driver. Passenger meals are $7 each.
Also planned for the event is a barbecue lunch to be served at O'Bannon Park which has been designated as the ride finish point. Included in the meal will be barbecue sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, cake and a drink.
Door prizes will be given away to all registered participants. Raffles and auctions will begin at 1:30 p.m. for those at the event who did not participate in the ride.
A 50/50 cash raffle will be held with tickets sold in advance and on the day of the ride event. The drawing for the prize will be held at 2 p.m. at the park.
Organizers have made minimal plans in case of rain. The event will go on as planned with the exception of the mortorcycle ride. All other events planned to take place at the park will proceed as planned with lunch and other activities.
The family-friendly event is open to the public.
The event is also being sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.
All proceeds from the event will be matched up to $2,500 by the sponsor. Proceeds will be used to help pay medical bills related to Powell's accident.
