West Gate Village, the local skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation facility, announces the introduction of an important new program developed to provide effective treatment for several prevalent conditions affecting our aging population.
The new program will include treatment for Wounds, Fall Prevention, Pain Management, Bladder Control, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Stroke Recovery, Shingles, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Neuromuscular Diseases such as Parkinson's.
These conservative treatment programs were developed specifically for the complex needs of geriatric patients using non-invasive, medication-free therapies. The programs utilize specialized therapeutic equipment that has been proven and used effectively with the aging population, and for over twenty years with Olympians and professional athletes.
The new equipment will enable therapists to treat more complex conditions, increase strength, speed recovery and improve neuromuscular control in patients with orthopedic and neurological diagnoses; therefore, increasing patient comfort as well as improving pain management.
The new treatment programs at West Gate Village are being implemented by the Rehabilitation and Nursing Departments in conjunction with the resident's physician, and Accelerated Care Plus, the nation's leading provider of “evidence-based” clinical programs for long-term care facilities, sub-acute treatment centers and rehab service providers.
