T.R. Miller High School will be holding special activities throughout the week in celebration of their 2008 Homecoming.
The student body recently voted to elect a queen and court of attendants to reign over events planned for the celebration.
Named the T.R. Miller 2008 Homecoming queen was Jill Jordan. Chosen as senior attendants were Kesha Peterson and Elizabeth Anne Stokes. Junior class attendants are Brenda Barragan and Emily Sherer with sophomore attendants Laura Burkett and Whitney Nicholson. Freshman attendants chosen were Leah Brundidge and Mary Ashton McMillan.
Among activities planned for homecoming week will be special programs to honor returning alumni.
Alumni are also encouraged to deliver their parade floats to the front of the school between 8 and 9:30 a.m., Atkinson said.
Atkinson said school will be dismissed at 2 p.m. The early released will allow students and parents an opportunity to be on hand when the parade begins.
According to information from the school, parade participants will gather on Evergreen Avenue behind First Baptist Church of Brewton. The parade will move down Evergreen Avenue to U.S. 31/St. Joseph Street to Belleville Avenue. The parade will disband just north of the Escambia County Courthouse on Belleville Avenue.
The evening will hold a variety of activities including the crowning of the homecoming queen. “The pre-game show will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the stadium,” Atkinson said. “Alumni classes will be recognized at that time.”
The festivities will be followed at 7 p.m. with kick-off as the Tigers take on Straughn High School.
