United Fund seeks help

Goodwill-Easter Seals is able to provide medicine and other health needs.
Wheels of Wellness takes young children to their doctors' appointments as far away as Mobile and Birmingham.
The Community Character Project gives local students a foundation for developing strong character lessons.
All of these projects are possible with the help of the United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton, which serves 16 local agencies through donations made in its annual campaign.
United Fund kicked off the 2009 fundraising drive last Wednesday, hosting a luncheon to thank area agencies for the work they do in the community.
United Fund chairwoman Sandy English said this year's fundraising goal is $90,000. She praised the agencies for their service to the community.
In coming weeks, individuals as well as businesses and their employees will be making pledges to the United Fund, which collects the money and distributes it to agencies. United Fund gives 99 cents of every dollar to its member agencies, so money raised in Brewton and East Brewton goes to help people in Brewton and East Brewton.
Jason Daniel of Georgia-Pacific said the mill will be using a new computer program this year to encourage giving among its employees.
