Four area players make ASWA All-State in football

Three T.R. Miller Tiger football players and one W.S. Neal Eagle were selected as members on the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State football team for 2008.
T.R. Miller Tiger senior Mabry Cook was the only player selected as a first-team selection on the 3A team.
Cody Swain and Johntae Brown were selected as Honorable Mention players in 3A.
Recent Southern Miss commitment Jamar Travis made the team for W.S. Neal in 4A on honoable mention.
Cook, a 6-3, 212 lb. senior offensive lineman for the Tigers helped lead the Tigers to a 13-1 record and a berth in the semi-finals of the 3A state playoffs for the Tigers.
Swain, a 6-0, 200 lb. junior for the Tigers made the list as a tight end. Brown (5-10, 246 lb.), another junior for the Tigers, made the list as a defensive lineman.
On the 4A list, Travis a 6-1, 295 lb. senior made the list as a defensive lineman. Travis finished his senior season with the Eagles with a 2-8 record, but has verbally committed to play for Southern Miss next season.
