WSN Lady Eagles get first area win of season

The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles picked up their first area win Friday night at home after an 0-2 start as they defeated the B.C. Rain Lady Red Raiders 60-35.
The win improved W.S. Neal to 9-6 overall and 1-2 in area play.
The Lady Eagles had suffered a 39-29 loss to Jackson at home earlier in the week to drop to 8-6 overall and 0-2 in area play.
The Lady Eagles were set to take on T.R. Miller in Brewton Tuesday night before returning home on Friday for an area game against UMS-Wright.

That is what the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles used Friday night at home to pick up their first area win of the season and improve to 9-6 overall and to 1-2 in area play when they defeated the B.C. Rain Red Raiders 60-35.
W.S. Neal outscored B.C. Rain 11-6 in the first quarter and 19-7 in the second quarter to hold a 30-13 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal outscored B.C. Rain 15-9 to take a 23-point 45-22 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Eagles extended their lead by two points as they outscored the Lady Red Raiders 15-13 to claim the 25-point win.
Rachel Davis and Keyvonnia Kyles led the Lady Eagles with 13 points each in the win. Freda Folmar followed with 10 points along with Katie Elliott. Megan Andrews added eight points and Angelique Askew added four points in the win. (The other two points for the Lady Eagles were added due to a B.C. Rain player scoring in the Lady Eagles' goal).
In the game Friday night, after having a 7-2 lead with 2:47 left in the first quarter, B.C. Rain cut the lead to 7-4 with 1:24.
From there, a 4-0 run for the Eagles gave W.S. Neal an 11-6 lead after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, a 14-0 run for the Lady Eagles over a 3:47 second gave W.S. Neal a 25-6 lead before B.C. Rain scored at the 4:23 mark.
Kyles scored seven points in the run and Davis scored three points.
Elliott and Andrews both had two points in the run for the Eagles as they cruised to a 17-point lead at the halftime break, 30-13.
The third quarter started just like the second quarter for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles took their 17-point lead and extended it to a 32-point lead with a 15-0 run to hold a 45-13 lead with 2:46 left in the third quarter.
The Lady Eagles held B.C. Rain scoreless until the 2:20 mark in the quarter, 5:40 without a point.
After the 15-0 run for the Lady Eagles, B.C. Rain went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 45-22 heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Red Raiders used a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 53-30 with 3:53 left in the game, but W.S. Neal held on for the win, 60-35 to get their first area win of the year.
Jackson 39,

The Lady Eagles dropped their second straight game and their second area game of the season last week with a 39-29 loss to Jackson.
W.S. Neal was outscored 7-4 in the first quarter and 10-8 in the second quarter to trail 17-12 at the half.
In the third quarter, Jackson held W.S. Neal to only four points while scoring 12 to take a 29-16 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, W.S. Neal cut the lead by three after outscoring Jackson 13-10, but was unable to overcome the early deficit as they fell by 10 points, 39-29.
Freda Folmar led the Lady Eagles with eight points in the loss. Folmar was joined by Katie Elliott who finished with seven points and Keyvonnia Kyles with five points.
Rachel Davis chipped in four points in the loss.
