Lady Tigers win

The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers earned their fifth straight win and improved to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the area Friday night in Mobile with a 62-40 win over Cottage Hill.
T.R. Miller used a 20-9 run in the first quarter to aid them in their 22-point win.
After leading by twelve points, Cottage Hill cut the lead to 30-20 at the half with an 11-10 scoring advantage in the quarter.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Cottage Hill 17-9 to hold an 18-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers held a 15-11 lead and claimed the 62-40 area win.
Nakiya Smith led the Lady Tigers with 18 points and Zykeya Barton poured in 14 points.
Kesha Peterson was the third double-digit scorer for the Lady Tigers as she finished with 10 points in the win.
MyNetra Boley added six points and Janel McCorvey chipped in five points.
McCorvey also had six rebounds and four steals in the win and Catherine Green added three points and four steals.
Ashley Williams, Shaniqua Kiser and Keydra Shedrone all had two points each in the win.
CHHS 52, TRM 34
After two straight wins and two straight area game wins, the T.R. Miller Tigers had their win streak snapped with a 52-34 loss to Cottage Hill Friday night in Mobile.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 2-10 overall and to 2-1 in area play.
Derrick Riley led the Tigers with 11 points in the loss and Corey Redfearn added 10 points. Terez Lane chipped in six points for T.R. Miller in the loss.
In the first quarter, Cottage Hill poured in 16 points while holding the Tigers to just six points to hold a 10-point lead after the first quarter of play.
In the second quarter, Cottage Hill added another 16 points while holding the Tigers to eight points to take a 32-14 lead in at the half.
In the second half, Cottage Hill held a 5-4 lead in the third quarter to extend their lead to 37-18.
The Tigers outscored Cottage Hill by one-point in the fourth quarter, 16-15, to cut the lead, but Cottage Hill was able to hold on for the 18-point win 52-34.
T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Marc Edge said his team let too much stuff bother them in the first half of play against Cottage Hill.
Edge said his team played hard, especially in the second half.
CHHS B team 40, TRM 22
The T.R. Miller B team fell to 0-6 with a 40-22 loss to Cottage Hill Friday night.
T.R. Miller was outscored 9-2 in the first quarter, 6-5 in the second quarter, 16-6 in the third quarter before tying Cottage Hill 9-9 in the fourth quarter.
Antonio Payne led the Tigers with eight points in the loss. Kori Jackson had six points and Darrion Salter had three points.
Ricky Curry and Jerric Woods both had two points and Kameron Winn had one point.
