Cook receives promotion

CPT James Cook was promoted to the rank of Major in the US Army on January 1st, 2009.
A native of Destin, Fl, Maj. Cook is currently serving a 12-month tour in Iraq on a Military Transition Team as an advisor to the Iraqi Army.
Cook received his degree and Army commission from the University of Florida in 1999. His most recent assignment was as a Company Commander in the 18th Fires Brigade at Fort Bragg, NC.
Cook is the son of Lamar and Darla Cook of Whitehouse, TX, and Frank and Wynell Garrity of Destin, FL.
He is the grandson of Annie Merle and the late James E. Cook and Glenn and Dot Lewis, all residents of Brewton.
Cook resides with his wife, Christy Huggins Cook, and two children, Alina and Michael, in Fayetteville, NC.
