Lying on a mattress that has a pea underneath may not sound horrible to the average person. But, for a princess who is very sensitive, the pea could pose a most uncomfortable dilemma.
Directors with the Missoula Children's Theatre have come to Brewton and have found just such a princess as well as a pea, kings, queens and even dust bunnies.
A production of “The Princess and the Pea” will be performed by a cast made up entirely of Brewton area children.
Following auditions Monday afternoon, Missoula Directors Alex Katlarek and Nicole Schalmo assigned parts for major and minor rolls in the play.
Auditioners had to recite lines such as “I don't like French fries and that's final,” and “I hate ice cream,” in order to land a role in the play.
Chelsea Blount was chosen to portray the Princess in the scheduled Saturday performance.
Rehearsals for some actors and actresses began immediately following the auditions with additional rehearsals scheduled throughout the week. The production will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Davis Community College. Tickets will be available at the door.
