Cool temperatures and regional competitions may have kept some car enthusiasts away from the fifth annual Brewton Lions Club Car and Bike Show Saturday. However, organizers of the event count the day as a success.
Patty Mitchell, who serves on the board of directors for the Brewton Lions Club, said the show hosted several new participants this year.
Mitchell said Ronnie Tucker was responsible for the car show and bike ride with some other volunteers pitching in to coordinate the event.
Freeman said the show was a success as well because of the positive feedback from participants.
That something right helps to raise money the club uses to fund many charitable projects throughout the year, Mitchell said.
The event, and the projects of the club, would not be possible without support from individuals and businesses in the community, Mitchell said.
Freeman said participants came from throughout the region including Mobile, Opp, Milton and Jay, Fla., as well as around the Brewton area.
Freeman expressed his appreciation to members of the club as well as the Warrin Peacock and Panhandle Cruisers of Pensacola, Fla., who provided music and sound for the show.
Winners in the event included Dawson Carden (Pete Alcocer) – Best in Show with a 1965 GTO; Zack Barker – Junior Dragster; Jerry Dawson – Best Paint; Charles Cole – Best Truck.
