Do you qualify for government benefits? Some beneficiaries may not realize their potential.
The Area Agency on Aging, Escambia Council on Aging, National Council on Aging and the National Center for the Benefits Outreach and Enrollment Center are partnering to sponsor this program to make sure that everyone gets what they are entitled to. This program is for citizens over the age of 55 or younger people with disabilities or limited income.
Betty Queen, Vista volunteer with the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission, which is partnered with the Community Foundation of South Alabama, said the event is really educational for those who attend.
The benefit enrollment center will be open for one day on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Atmore City Hall Auditorium. The auditorium is located at 201 East Louisville Street. The public is asked to bring a picture ID, proof of income, Social Security card, Medicare card (the red, white and blue card), list of medicines, and current utility bill.
Additional material may be needed to process some applications. The one seeking the benefits must be present for an application or interview.
