A 12-year old Brewton Middle School student was taken by ambulance to D.W. McMillan Hospital Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a car on Sowell Road.
Brewton Police Chief Monte McGougin said the child was struck by a car driven by Clara Williamson of Brewton just after 3 p.m., when the boy crossed her path in the street.
Police received the call of the child being hit about 3:21 p.m. Tuesday, he said.
McGougin said rescue squad members and paramedics responded to the scene along with officers with the Brewton Police Department.
McGougin said Sgt. Brock Holt responded to the scene and began the investigation into the accident.
No charges will be filed against Williamson in connection with the incident, McGougin said.
