Pouring in the points|Smith scores 35 points in loss for TRM

In a game that saw 134 total points scored and T.R. Miller Lady Tiger Nakiya Smith pour in 35 points, the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller dropped their first game of the season Tuesday night in Ft. Walton Beach to Pensacola High School 77-57.
The loss dropped T.R. Miller to 1-1.
Of T.R. Miller’s seven losses the past two seasons, (five in 2007-2008 and two in 2008-2009) two of them have come at the hands of Pensacola.
Playing in the Choctawhatchee High School Emerald Classic Thanksgiving Tournament to open their season the Lady Tigers earned a 60-16 win in round one Monday to advance to play the Lady Tigers of Pensacola.
T.R. got on the board first in the game after a Shaniqua Kiser bucket at the 7:49 mark in the first quarter to go on top 2-0.
From that point, T.R. Miller fell behind 5-2 before cutting the lead to 5-4.
With the deficit to one, T.R. Miller fell to a 7-0 Pensacola run to fall behind 12-4 and 23-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Pensacola then went up 27-17 with 6:17 left before halftime only to see T.R. Miller go on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 27-25 with 4:56 left to play in the quarter.
Pensacola quickly took the lead and extended it with a 6-0 run to lead 39-29 at the half.
Both teams scored 16 points in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers were once again outscored by 10, this time 22-12 to fall behind 61-41 heading into the fourth quarter.
Pensacola started the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 45-29 lead with 6:06 left in the quarter and had another 6-0 run to claim a 57-37 lead with 2:21 left to play before the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, both teams scored 16 points, but Pensacola had another 8-0 run to claim a 73-50 lead with 4:04 left in the game.
Smith lead T.R. Miller with 35 points as she scored seven in the first quarter, 10 in the second quarter, four in the third quarter, and 14 in the fourth quarter.
Shaniqua Kiser followed with 14 points and Leah Brundidge had six points. Janel McCorvey had two points in the loss.

West Florida 16
In the first game of their 2009-2010 season, the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller traveled to play in Choctawhatchee High School’s Emerald Coast Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Lady Tiger cruised to their first win by defeating West Florida High School 60-16.
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 22-3 first quarter lead and outscored West Florida 22-4 in the second quarter to lead 44-7 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers stretched their lead to 57-14 with a 13-7 advantage and held a 3-2 advantage in the fourth quarter to win by 44 points.
Nakiya Smith led T.R. Miller with 24 points giving her a total of 59 points in the first two games.
Shaniqua Kiser followed with 12 points and Leah Brundidge chipped in six.
Janel McCorvey, Diamond Middleton, and Keydra Shedrone all had four points each and Desiree Gibbs, Courtney Jones, and Elizabeth Reed had two points.
On Wednesday, T.R. Miller won their third game of the season and the tournament to claim third place.
